The exploration of death as a journey to the afterlife celebrated with shrines and offerings fascinate me. In my work, I bring together found objects and things I have made to create assemblages in a shrine-like fashion. My processes include glass casting and textile dyeing, printing and piecing. I strive to create my own modern day relics that have an almost false sacredness. Inspired by Catholic catacombs, I use vibrant colors in conjunction with metallics and various textures to create a sense of mysticism. All of my work has religious undertones including the use of iconography to communicate familial connections both real and imagined.
